About luxury vinyl plank flooring

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the most popular flooring choice in Idaho homes today — and for good reason. A rigid SPC or WPC core makes it dimensionally stable through dry winters and humid summers, while a printed wear layer delivers the look of oak, hickory, or walnut at a fraction of the cost.

Why homeowners choose lvp

  • 100% waterproof — safe for kitchens, baths, basements, and entryways
  • Click-lock installation over most existing subfloors
  • 20-mil wear layers stand up to dogs, kids, and snow boots
  • Far more affordable than real wood with comparable visuals

Scope of work

We install rigid-core luxury vinyl plank over wood or concrete subfloors: removal and disposal of the existing floor, subfloor flattening, underlayment or pad where the product requires it, floating or glue-down installation, and transitions, thresholds, and base shoe or quarter round to finish.

Materials and systems we install

  • • SPC (stone-polymer core) for maximum dent resistance and dimensional stability
  • • WPC (wood-polymer core) where a softer, warmer underfoot feel is preferred
  • • Attached-pad and separate-underlayment systems, chosen to match the manufacturer's warranty
  • • Glue-down planks for large open runs, commercial-style use, and over radiant slabs

Brands we commonly install: COREtec · Shaw Floorté · Mohawk RevWood · Mannington Adura · Karndean

Preparation and site conditions

Rigid core planks bridge minor imperfections but telegraph anything beyond about 3/16 inch over 10 feet, so we grind high spots and fill low spots, re-secure loose subfloor panels, and moisture-test concrete slabs before any material goes down.

Interior temperature must be within the manufacturer's range before and after installation. Slabs in basements and on-grade additions get a moisture reading; above-grade wood subfloors get a flatness and fastener check.

Timelines

A single room typically installs in a day. A whole main level is commonly a multi-day job once demolition, subfloor correction, and trim are included. Your estimate states the schedule planned for your project.

What drives the price

  • • Wear-layer thickness and core type of the product you select
  • • How much of the old floor has to come out, and its disposal
  • • Amount of subfloor grinding, patching, or panel replacement required
  • • Room count, layout complexity, stairs, and closet or angled cuts
  • • Transition and trim count between rooms and to other flooring

Written estimates: inclusions and exclusions

Included

  • • Material as specified on the estimate, in the quantity measured plus standard waste
  • • Removal and disposal of the existing floor covering in the listed rooms
  • • Standard subfloor preparation: flattening, patching, and re-securing loose panels
  • • Underlayment or moisture barrier where the selected product requires it
  • • Installation labor, transitions, thresholds, and reinstallation of base shoe or new quarter round where quoted
  • • Job-site cleanup and haul-away of installation debris

Excluded unless quoted

  • • Structural subfloor repair that cannot be seen until the old floor is removed
  • • Asbestos, lead, or other hazardous-material testing and abatement
  • • Appliance disconnection or reconnection, plumbing, and electrical work
  • • Moving of pianos, safes, pool tables, or contents beyond what the estimate states
  • • Painting, drywall repair, and baseboard replacement unless specifically quoted
  • • Permit fees where a permit is required by the local jurisdiction

Selections, change orders, and warranty

We bring plank samples to your home so you can judge color and gloss in your own light, and we point out which wear layers suit pets, rentals, or heavy sun exposure.

Scope changes are handled as written change orders, priced and approved by you before work continues. Our installation carries a 1-year craftsmanship warranty; the material carries its manufacturer warranty.

Floor covering replacement in an existing home generally does not require a permit in Treasure Valley jurisdictions. If your project includes work that does, we tell you at estimate time.
