Scope of work

We install solid hardwood over wood subfloors: tear-out and disposal, subfloor preparation and moisture testing, acclimation, blind-nailed installation, and transitions, reducers, and trim. Finishing is scheduled as either prefinished material or a site-finished sequence.

Preparation and site conditions

Solid wood moves with humidity, so subfloor moisture content and the difference between subfloor and flooring readings are measured and documented before the first board goes down. Subfloor flatness and fastener holding power are corrected first.

Solid hardwood is for above-grade rooms over wood subfloors, not below-grade slabs. Material acclimates in the home with HVAC operating, and site-finished floors need the house kept clear of traffic while coats cure.

Timelines

Solid hardwood is the longest of the four projects. Acclimation comes first, then installation; site-finished floors add sanding and multiple finish coats with cure time between them. Your estimate lays out the sequence and the days involved.

We walk through species hardness, grade and character, board width, and sheen level, and for site-finished work we prepare stain samples on your actual wood before committing to a color.

Scope changes are handled as written change orders, priced and approved by you before work continues. Our installation carries a 1-year craftsmanship warranty; the material carries its manufacturer warranty.

Floor covering replacement in an existing home generally does not require a permit in Treasure Valley jurisdictions. If your project includes work that does, we tell you at estimate time.
